Gail Morrison

About the Artist

Gail Morrison began painting in Italy. Gaia is the Italian translation of the artist's first name and is the signature on all of her work.

Passionate about painting, Gail's oil landscape and still life paintings exude a vibrancy and color characteristic of the artist's life and personality.

A world traveler with exploration on all seven continents, she fell in love with Italy and the Italian way of life on her first extended stay in 1989, returning to live and study language in Florence. Proficient in Italian and marketing, Gail lived on the Ligurian coast fulfilling a yearlong contract with the Acquario di Genova before joining an international group of artists in Tuscany.

"The experience of painting from a studio created above a cantina where aging Chianti wine was being stored is a memory that will last forever," Gail recalls. "Standing on a hilltop in Tuscany, I can rotate my easel 360 degrees and paint from sun up till sundown. Then I have a great glass of Italian wine."

Since switching careers in 1992, she has been the recipient of numerous awards and solo shows. Her work, shown in the United States, France and Italy, hangs in private and corporate collections around the world.

You may visit Gail Morrison's art studio and gallery (pictured above) at the Pendleton Art Center on the Final Friday of every month from 6-10 p.m. Also open by appointment. Call 513.684.0658.
